Why This Role Matters

Great design comes from true team collaboration. As a Project Manager, you will play an integral role in our studio as a strong design lead, project coordinator, and mentor. Thanks to our holistic, hands-on office culture, you will dive directly into all phases of the design process—helping bring well-crafted gardens, conservation planning, and urban design vision to life for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead design teams independently through all project phases—from Master Planning, Schematic Design, and Design Development through Construction Documentation and Construction Administration.
  • Perform the core design development for projects in direct collaboration with Senior Associates and Principals, serving as the lead designer once project direction and tone are established.
  • Drive end-to-end visual communication, fluidly translating concepts from rapid hand sketches and diagrams into polished digital graphics and presentation assets.
  • Build and coordinate project teams, managing internal staff and external sub-consultants as needed to execute project scopes.
  • Serve as a key point of contact, maintaining regular, proactive communication with clients, contractors, and consultants regarding timelines, deliverables, and project progress.
  • Lead, train, and support junior staff members to foster professional growth and technical excellence across the studio.
  • Assist with project budgeting, resource allocation, and the monthly billing process.
  • Collaborate with Principals on studio operations beyond project delivery, including marketing, business development, recruitment, staff training, and office management.
Desired Experience
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture
  • 4 to 6 years of employment history in a landscape architecture studio environment
  • Experience in project management, construction documentation, and permitting
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch Up and MS Office
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or Vectorworks (preferred)
Desired Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong artistic curiosity and passion for design, exploration, and research
  • Passion for and experience with horticulture
  • Ability to work comfortably across multiple project scales—from detailed residential garden features to expansive campus master plans.
  • Demonstrated technical acumen, keen attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a personable, hardworking, and collaborative mindset that thrives in a dynamic studio atmosphere.
  • International project or educational exposure is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and energetic environment
  • Based in a collaborative, team-oriented studio environment
  • Location: Annapolis, MD
