Job summary

Sharyland Water Supply Corporation in Texas is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead capital infrastructure and municipal construction initiatives. You will manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality across active water projects on-site in Alton and surrounding communities.

You will coordinate contractors and internal stakeholders, review submittals, and maintain project documentation while aligning work with public works priorities, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience in capital project management within utility infrastructure, municipal construction, engineering support, public works, or water utility operations.
• Ability to manage scope, timelines, budgets, and quality across complex projects.

Sharyland Water Supply Corporation was established in May of 1968 for the purpose of providing safe, affordable drinking water to the rural communities in and around Mission, McAllen, and Edinburg. We continue to strive in that endeavor.

Sharyland Water Supply Corporation was created by a group of determined, community-minded men in the 1960's. With the help of Farmers Home Administration, a loan was acquired and construction began to build a rural water system. Initially, 700 property owners committed to take water service once construction was complete. Today, more than 50 years later, there are over 19,000 water connections on the system.

The Corporation has approximately 100 square miles of Certified Area, 800 miles of water lines, three water plants, four elevated storage tanks and plans for additional water system improvements in the works.

The Corporation has over 100 employees and a 7 person Board of Directors, all of whom are dedicated to the job required to ensure that Sharyland Water Supply Corporation continues to be the best it can be.

The Mission of This Role

Safe, reliable drinking water depends on well-run capital work. As Project Manager, you’ll lead infrastructure projects that protect service for our communities and keep schedules, budgets, and quality on track.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver utility infrastructure and municipal construction projects from scope through closeout

Required qualifications/skills

• Senior-level experience in capital project management within utility infrastructure, municipal construction, engineering support, public works, or water utility operations
• Strong communication, organization, and decision-making in an onsite environment
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Project Management or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and directly related experience that the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the essential functions.

A Typical Workday

Your day starts onsite in Alton, checking active job sites and confirming the week’s milestones with crews and partners. Mid-morning is for coordinating timelines, reviewing updates, and clearing roadblocks so work keeps moving safely. After lunch, you’ll connect with internal teams to align upcoming construction with system needs, then document decisions and communicate next steps. Most days follow a steady Monday-Friday rhythm (8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.), with occasional after-hours or weekend touchpoints when field conditions or critical cutovers require it.
