About the Role
As a Project Manager at FlexLink, you will lead multiple customer projects from initiation through successful completion, serving as the primary point of contact for customers while coordinating cross-functional engineering and support teams.
You will manage projects in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining ownership of project scope, schedule, budget, risk, and overall execution.
This role requires a strong working knowledge of technical and engineered systems, along with the confidence to communicate effectively with both technical teams and external customers.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Coordinate project handoffs from Applications Engineering and Sales, ensuring scope, requirements, costs, and project details are accurate and aligned for execution.
- Direct the approval drawing process in collaboration with Project Engineering and customers through final acceptance and material release.
- Develop and maintain project schedules across engineering, financial milestones, assembly, installation, and commissioning.
- Provide regular customer updates, proactively addressing project risks, schedule delays, and potential solutions.
- Negotiate Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) with customers and coordinate related purchase orders with Finance.
- Monitor financial performance through forecasting, cash flow, cost management, and margin optimization.
- Present project status, critical tasks, financial risks, and margin concerns during weekly milestone meetings.
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Finance, Assembly, Installation, and other support functions to resolve project and customer issues.
- Execute projects in accordance with the Group Operations Management System, with a focus on profitability, quality, and customer satisfaction.
What You Need to Be Successful
- 5-7 years of professional experience in project management, preferably within manufacturing, industrial automation, systems integration, material handling, or a similar technical environment.
- Demonstrated experience successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Experience with project planning and scheduling, scope definition and management, risk management, and change management.
- Strong understanding of project financials, including budgeting, cost management, financial forecasting, cash flow, and project profitability.
- Experience coordinating and leading cross-functional technical teams without direct reporting authority.
- Strong customer-facing communication and negotiation skills, with the confidence to manage challenging conversations and resolve project-related issues.
- Experience with vendor and supplier management.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and other engineering documentation.
- Working knowledge of Autodesk/AutoCAD tools, with the ability to review drawings and obtain basic dimensions or project information as needed.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage changing priorities, deadlines, and multiple project demands.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, engineering teams, internal support functions, and leadership.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned projects, and make sound decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
