Job summary

Path Construction is seeking qualified college students in construction-related majors to join our Chicago area team. This internship offers exposure to general contract and subcontract administration, procurement, scheduling, cost control, and project coordination on diverse projects nationwide.

You will learn day-to-day management of subcontractors and suppliers, participate in safety programs, review shop drawings and change orders, and contribute to cost reporting and closeout.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a 4-year degree in Building Construction or related field.
• Good communication and teamwork mindset.
• Familiar with project management basics and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist with general contract and subcontract administration.
• Monitor and document jobsite safety and accident prevention.
• Support construction scheduling and coordination.
• Assist with procurement, expediting, RFIs, submittals.
• Review change proposals and cost reporting.
• Support project closeout and quality control.
• Attend and document coordination meetings.
• Travel with a valid driver’s license may be required.

Typical duties of an intern include learning to manage day-to-day activities of subcontractors and suppliers, contract administration, procurement, estimating, pay requests, change orders, requests for information, cost control, scheduling, tracking submittals, maintaining and delivering a high level of quality.

Duties for an Intern include introduction and team participation in:

• General Contract and Subcontract administration
• Monitor and document jobsite safety and accident prevention
• Construction Scheduling
• Material & Equipment – procurement and expediting
• Process RFI’s
• Receive

• Shop drawing and submittal review and coordination
• Project cost review, reporting, updating and accounting
• Review of subcontractor applications for payment
• Participation in and documentation of project coordination meetings
• Supervision and coordination of subcontractors’ field installations
• Review and negotiate change proposal pricing from subcontractors
• Prepare change proposals
• Change order documentation and associated cost reporting and maintenance
• Research and suggest options on construction means, methods and equipment
• Quality control
• Project Closeout
• Implement all applicable Safety Programs and EEO/Affirmative Action Programs on the Project

• Currently pursuing a 4 year degree in Building Construction, Engineering, or a related field
• Up-to-date with modern technology and display excellent communication skills
• General knowledge of construction principles/practices
• Strong work ethic and desire to work in a team environment and grow the company
• Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel may be required
• Working knowledge of project management process and software. (Microsoft Office)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

• Hourly Wage Range: $18/hour - $25/hour
