Job summary

Petroplan seeks a senior Power Generation Project Lead to direct Owner-Furnished Equipment (OFE) procurement and EPC coordination in a high‑profile Virginia project. You will oversee design reviews, document control, and QA activities, ensuring equipment integration meets schedule, scope, and safety standards.

You will drive cross‑functional collaboration with EPC partners, OEMs, and vendors, while leading risk management, status reporting, and site readiness through commissioning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with extensive field execution experience.
  • 10+ years in power generation design, maintenance, operations, or project management.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in engineering, construction, commissioning, or related disciplines.
  • Experience leading mid- to large-scale power projects in an EPC environment.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, NETA, ANSI and field-testing requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead OFE PO implementation ensuring timely delivery and proper configuration of turbines, HRSGs, GIS, EMS, and related systems.
  • Coordinate design reviews with OFE teams and vendors to align equipment development with schedule and requirements.
  • Manage engineering and design documentation flow between OFE vendors and EPC Power Island teams.
  • Participate in PSSR and support commissioning activities, including punch-list and closeout.
  • Maintain project plans, documentation, and coordination processes across EPC organization.
  • Provide monthly project status updates including risks, issues, and actions.
  • Travel 40% or more domestically and internationally to support FAT, witness testing, and vendor activities.

Job description

  • Lead the complete implementation of Owner-Furnished Equipment (OFE) purchase orders, ensuring the timely delivery and proper configuration of turbines, HRSGs, GIS, power transformers, EMS, and related systems.
  • Lead and coordinate equipment design reviews with OFE teams and vendors to ensure equipment development remains aligned with project requirements and schedules.
  • Coordinate design reviews between OFE vendors and the EPC engineering teams responsible for detailed Power Island design.
  • Manage the timely delivery of engineering and design documentation and ensure effective information flow between OFE vendors and EPC Power Island engineering teams.
  • Maintain a strong focus on equipment quality and reliability, participating directly in critical quality reviews and coordinating with the internal Quality organization.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively across all levels of the organization, providing timely updates on project status, risks, issues, and required actions.
  • Build strong relationships with EPC partners, OEMs, vendors, and internal stakeholders while effectively managing expectations and driving successful project outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain effective project plans while adapting to changing site priorities, schedules, and project requirements.
  • Maintain strong project documentation, records, and coordination processes while driving accountability and discipline within the EPC organization.
  • Participate in electrical and mechanical Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR).
  • Support electrical and mechanical commissioning activities, including project punch-list development and closeout.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews and audits of equipment installation, electrical and mechanical test plans, and pre-commissioning procedures.
  • Review installation scope packages and verify that all required documentation and forms are completed for equipment and system turnover.
  • Ensure equipment and system test procedures are properly reviewed, coordinated, and integrated into component and system testing activities.
  • Provide monthly project status reviews, including progress, risks, schedule, quality, and key action items.
  • Support site Change Management activities for the electrical discipline.
  • Support system and equipment checkout, ensuring installed equipment meets OEM requirements, system descriptions, project specifications, and accepted industry practices.
  • Travel 40% or more, domestically and internationally, to support customer witness testing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), vendor activities, and other project requirements.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or technical institution, or equivalent job-related experience with a minimum of 10 years of power generation field execution experience.
  • 10-15+ years of experience in power generation design, maintenance, operations, engineering, or project management.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in electrical or mechanical engineering, construction, commissioning, operations, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience serving as a Project Lead on mid- to large-scale power generation projects.
  • Experience working within an EPC project environment, preferably involving large-scale power generation facilities.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Primavera P6 scheduling software.
  • Current knowledge of engineering methodologies and detailed design engineering processes, including electrical controls and power generation systems.
  • Strong understanding of field-testing requirements, procedures, and equipment used for electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of domestic and/or international electrical codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, NETA, and ANSI.
  • Strong understanding of equipment installation, commissioning, testing, turnover, and pre-startup processes within large-scale power generation projects
