Job summary

Parker Aerospace in Kentucky, Danville, seeks a Carbon Project Leader/Engineer to lead facility expansion, growth and optimization within carbon processing operations. The role requires managing scope, budget, and schedule while directing internal/external resources to deliver program objectives.

You will drive governance, build a solid business case, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance and on-time completion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering, Management or related field is required. Professional certification/training in project management is highly desired.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Engineering, project management and robust experience in the execution of engineering projects analyzing, planning, budgeting, organizing and directing.
  • Good working knowledge of carbon processing and manufacturing methodology is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and interface with cross-functional disciplines; using collaborative interpersonal skills to drive tasks to completion.
  • Understanding of financial, product development, operational functions and key business drivers.
  • Engineering professional (mechanical, technical, electrical, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience working and managing teams in a multi-disciplined matrix environment required
  • Experience or background in carbon or graphite manufacturing
  • Able to deal with and succeed in the face of ambiguity; engages and inspires diverse teams likewise
  • Strong project management skills for successful program delivery required
  • Strong organizational skills and effective problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills with the expertise to develop and articulate clear and detailed plans
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations to management
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple activities and programs in geographically diverse theaters; works well under pressure
  • Self-motivated with problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong PC skills required; experience with MS Project and SAP preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead teams of direct/indirect reports, contractors, engineering firms/consultants along with integrated site project teams.
  • Supports Carbon leadership in long-term capacity/Capex planning.
  • Forecasts and tracks Carbon CapEx spend.
  • Works within the defined project charter plan including budget, schedule and resource constraints.
  • Establishes and executes the transformational governance process and agenda; drives the process in accordance with Parker-Meggitt’s governance process.
  • Responsible for delivering a defined scope of work to agreed cost and timeframe; drives the business case that underpins the investment.
  • Provides leadership to the assigned resources to achieve program objectives.
  • Manages communication primarily at an operational level concerning operational details (cost, schedule, quality).
  • Coordinates and leads gate reviews.Responsible for assuring Company facilities and processes are in compliance with all EPA, PUWER, OSHA and other applicable governmental regulations concerning environmental, health and safety issues.
  • Identifies and manages program risks and issues, escalating to the Project Sponsor wherever necessary.
  • Reports project performance (milestones and budget adherence).
  • Interfaces with functional managers
  • Application of Parker Lean Systems (PLS) in the performance of the project teams.
  • Support cross-functional improvement activities across all global carbon value streams as needed
  • Provide effective communications within Braking Systems and with other organizations to provide an atmosphere of cooperation
  • Travel up to 15% of the year may be required to support efforts at other carbon sites.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering, the Carbon Project Leader/Engineer will be responsible for leading and supporting a variety of projects for facility expansion, growth & optimization. Will execute the overall activities set within the scope of the project and in accordance with budget, schedule and performance constraints. Directs internal/external resources to ensure project delivery. Reports performance to executive management to achieve project objectives. Focuses on tactical delivery within a program structure.
