Job summary

Haley & Aldrich is seeking a Project Geotechnical Engineer in Seattle, WA for a full-time role. You will split time between field and office, leading portions of technical projects under senior staff and contributing to design, data evaluation and reporting.

You will apply geotechnical knowledge on seismic foundations, slope stability, and ground improvement, while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with clients and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required.
  • 2+ years of relevant design experience in seismic, shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, ground improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to write technical reports.

We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking a Project Geotechnical Engineer to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position located in our Seattle, WA office.

Duties/Responsibilities

In this position, you will:

  • Split time and responsibilities between field assignments and office assignments.
  • Lead portions of technical project work from project scope through final deliverables under the direction of senior staff.
  • Apply academic and industry knowledge, as well as learnings from prior work experience, to execute project work.
  • Provide training, guidance, and informal mentoring to junior staff on their projects and within your technical discipline.
  • Under the direction of the senior staff, participate in communications with clients, agencies, and internal teams within your discipline.
  • Plan, perform and oversee geotechnical engineering investigations, technical evaluations, data summarization, and design.
  • Conduct basic construction observation, including quality control and field-testing tasks.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed documentation of activities both in the field and during data evaluation.
  • Perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors.
Skills/Experience

Minimum Skills and Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant design experience in seismic, shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, ground improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and must be proficient at writing technical reports to meet project requirements.
  • Able to work independently on individual tasks supporting technical work and exhibit the ability to manage tasks and perform work on multiple projects or multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Desire to learn and grow in your profession, demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, resourcefulness, flexibility, and ownership.
Preferred Skills
  • WA EIT and planning to obtain a Professional Engineering license.
  • West Coast consulting experience and knowledge with, liquefaction, and seismic sampling and design methods.
  • Nuclear Density Guage Certification.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Plaxis 3D, FLAC 3D, and/or relevant geotechnical analysis software.

The salary range for this position in Seattle, WA is $90,000 - $110,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market. This role may be eligible to receive a sign-on bonus.
