Job summary

Kleinfelder Inc. is seeking a Project Geotechnical Engineer to elevate your career in geotechnical engineering. This position will leverage your strong analytical skills within a multidisciplinary environment in Laguna Hills, Riverside, or Los Angeles, California.

Qualifications

  • 6-10 years of experience required or advanced degree alternatives.
  • Registered PE License is mandatory.

The Southern California Area is seeking to fill a Project Geotechnical Engineer position. This position can be based in one of Kleinfelder’s Laguna Hills, Riverside, or Los Angeles, California offices.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and develop scopes for field and office tasks (technical and non‑technical) and independent analysis.
  • Safely conduct field exploration, sampling, inspection, analysis and technical support under supervision.
  • Coordinate tasks and small projects with guidance and interaction by senior operations/technical staff.
  • Prepare designs, reports and calculations on complex projects for review.
Qualifications
  • Strong analytical skills in soil and rock classification, slope stability analysis, earth retention systems, shallow and deep foundation design, materials testing and engineering, soil improvement techniques, and pavement design.
  • 6 to 10 years of related experience or 4 years of related experience with a Master’s degree, or 2 years of related experience with a PhD.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel and perform field work, even under inclement weather and physically demanding conditions.
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and detail‑oriented; willing to work beyond a standard 40‑hour work week when needed.
Benefits and Compensation

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary Range: $91,000 - $120,000.
