Job summary

The Society of Exploration Geophysicists in Seattle is seeking a Project Geologist or Environmental Scientist to join its growing team. This role focuses on environmental investigation and remediation across the Pacific Northwest, including NAVFAC Northwest and federal DoD projects.

Ideal candidates have 7–12 years of environmental consulting/remediation experience, a geology or environmental science degree, and strong background in groundwater/soil investigations with regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

  • 7–12 years of environmental consulting or remediation experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, USTs, contaminated-site investigation, or remediation.
  • Strong background in groundwater and soil investigation.
  • Experience preparing technical environmental reports and regulatory documentation.
  • Previous federal, DoD, NAVFAC, or USACE experience is highly desirable.
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER preferred.
  • Washington Licensed Geologist preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support CERCLA, RCRA, UST, and environmental restoration projects.
  • Prepare and contribute to technical documents including PA/SI/RI/FS and work plans.
  • Conduct and oversee soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, and soil-gas investigations.
  • Coordinate drilling, monitoring well installation, sampling, and subcontractor activities.
  • Evaluate environmental data and support site characterization and remedial decision-making.
  • Support remediation system installation, operation, monitoring, and optimization.
  • Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables.
  • Coordinate with clients, regulators, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support periodic field travel throughout Washington and Alaska.

We are supporting a growing environmental consulting firm seeking an experienced Project Geologist or Environmental Scientist to join its Seattle-area team.

This role will support environmental investigation and remediation projects across the Pacific Northwest, with a strong focus on federal and DoD clients, including work associated with NAVFAC Northwest.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support CERCLA, RCRA, UST, and environmental restoration projects
  • Prepare and contribute to technical documents including Preliminary Assessments, Site Investigations, RI/FS reports, work plans, monitoring reports, and remedial action documentation

Location & Compensation
  • Seattle, Washington
  • Hybrid working model, generally 3 days in office / up to 2 days remote
  • Some flexibility may be available for candidates elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest
  • $115,000–$145,000 base salary + benefits
  • Periodic travel to project sites in Washington and Alaska
