Job summary

Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals is seeking an experienced Project Geologist or Environmental Scientist for the Seattle-area team to support environmental investigation and remediation projects in the Pacific Northwest, with emphasis on federal and DoD clients including NAVFAC Northwest.

The role involves fielding and technical reporting, coordinating drilling and monitoring activities, and advancing site characterization and remedial decision-making while traveling regionally.

Qualifications

  • 7–12 years of environmental consulting or remediation experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, USTs, contaminated-site investigation, or remediation.
  • Strong background in groundwater and soil investigation.
  • Experience preparing technical environmental reports and regulatory documentation.
  • Federal, DoD, NAVFAC, or USACE experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with drilling oversight, monitoring wells, soil logging, and sampling.
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER preferred.
  • Washington Licensed Geologist preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support CERCLA, RCRA, UST, and environmental restoration projects
  • Prepare and contribute to technical documents including Preliminary Assessments, Site Investigations, RI/FS reports, work plans, monitoring reports, and remedial action documentation
  • Conduct and oversee soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, and soil-gas investigations
  • Coordinate drilling, monitoring well installation, sampling, and subcontractor activities
  • Evaluate environmental data and support site characterization, conceptual site models, and remedial decision-making
  • Support remediation system installation, operation, monitoring, and optimization
  • Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables
  • Coordinate with clients, regulators, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Support periodic field travel throughout Washington and Alaska

Location & Compensation
  • Seattle, Washington
  • Hybrid working model, generally 3 days in office / up to 2 days remote
  • Some flexibility may be available for candidates elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest
  • $115,000–$145,000 base salary + benefits
  • Periodic travel to project sites in Washington and Alaska
