Job description

Hana Engineers and Consultants, LLC is seeking to hire a full-time Project Geologist with 5+ years of experience to support Hana’s environmental portfolio of projects in both federal government and commercial sectors. While this position is remote, it requires occasional travel to Hana offices and project sites, primarily located along the East Coast. Preference will be given to applicants residing near a Hana office (Virginia / South Carolina) or within proximity to key project locations on the East Coast.

Requirements:

Core Roles/Responsibilities:

• Support the management of DoD projects
• Collaborate with technical teams across multiple offices to solve complex problems, prepare plans and specifications, and engage with clients and subcontractors.
• Prepare and review technical documents, such as UFP-QAPP/Work Plans, Health and Safety Plans, and Investigation Reports.
• Assist in the design and implementation of environmental CERCLA and RCRA projects.
• Conduct field investigations, including monitoring well installation, sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, indoor air, soil gas, drinking water, and building materials, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
• Contribute to the preparation of project proposals and evaluation of contractor bids, working closely with senior staff to refine scopes of work and budgets.
• Oversee field activities and ensure accurate reporting, coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with senior staff in developing and reviewing technical documents and ensuring quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) for deliverables.
• Act as a mentor to junior team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional development within project teams.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Geology or similar field.
• Licensed Professional Geologist (or willing to obtain PG license within 24 months).
• 5-10 years of relevant experience.
• HAZWOPER training and certification.
• Experience with RCRA and CERCLA processes (RI/FS, RD/RA, ROD) and documentation.
• Prior environmental investigation and remediation experience.
• Understanding of Federal facility policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Strong work ethic.
• Ability to travel up to 25–35% to support ongoing environmental projects.
• Preference for applicants located on the East Coast.
