Job summary

A leading construction firm is looking for a Project Executive / Program Manager (Heavy Civil) to oversee project delivery and management. You will manage contract administration, drive project execution, ensure safety, build strong relationships, and lead a team. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in large-scale construction projects and a Professional Engineer license.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years construction experience required; large scale projects preferred.
  • Experience leading and developing teams for over 6 years.
  • Must become a licensed Professional Engineer in D.C. within 6 months.

The Program Manager will be responsible for ensuring that personnel and other resources are made available when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all activities related to contract administration, change orders, procurement, schedule, and financial reporting

  • Have thorough knowledge of the company's contracts and understanding of all parties involved

  • Secure required permits and verify insurance coverage for subcontractors

  • Facilitate project meetings to successfully coordinate work activity

  • Lead, train and develop project team members

  • Prepare and submit monthly job status reports that outline project priorities and issues

  • Lead project close out of project; including turnover of manuals and warranties and preparation of final payment documents for subcontractors

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with counterparts at owner, engineering and design firms

  • Establish a deadline and monitor the progress of the project

  • Drive a culture of safety on the project site

  • Support the company’s acquisition of new work by participating in proposals and presentations

  • Provide leadership to foster an environment of inclusion and diversity

Basic Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, a related discipline or relevant work experience

  • Must be a Professional Engineer licensed in the District of Columbia (or have the ability to become licensed within six months of the date of the Contract)

  • Have at least 10+ years of construction experience required; working for a general contractor on large scale construction projects is highly preferred.

  • 6+ years leading, developing and motivating teams

  • D emonstrated experience in complex urban highway, bridge, transit and river crossing projects

  • Must be a professional engineer licensed in the District of Columbia (or have the ability to become licensed within six months of hire)

  • Ability to analyze contract documents and construction projects for code deficiencies with respect to District and federal requirements.

  • Understanding of the strategic, operational and financial components of a construction project

  • Ability to make timely and effective decisions

  • Experience managing projects successfully from start to finish

  • Skilled at developing and negotiating relationships with owners and trade contractors

  • Strong work ethic, leadership and the ability to work in a fast paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Primavera P6, SAP (or some other financial system), Procore, Microsoft Excel
