Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Project Executive to join our Industrial business unit. This candidate will ideally have experience in Power Generation and will oversee construction operations, lead project teams, and contribute to business unit growth.

The Project Executive manages schedules, budgets, risk, and client relationships, reports to the Director of Operations, and travels as required. The Weitz Company highlights 1855 heritage, full-service capabilities, and a commitment to diversity

Qualifications

  • Fifteen (15) years of construction industry experience required.
  • Experience as Senior Manager, Project Executive, or Director on $50M-$200M projects required.
  • Proven history of leading others, mentoring, and teaching.
  • Industrial construction project experience required.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn Procore, JDE, and Asta; familiarity with Apple devices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans for large-scale construction projects.
  • Manage project teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders including senior management, clients, and regulatory authorities.
  • Monitor and control construction through on-site field management and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage and support proposal creation and development of client presentations.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts to protect the company's interests and maintain client relationships.
  • Provide leadership to preconstruction teams in analyzing value, opportunities, and risk.
  • Coordinate project commissioning and handover activities.
  • Manage project closeout activities.
  • Maintain a strong network of industry contacts to expand business opportunities.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned; business travel required.

The Weitz Company is seeking a Project Executive to join our Industrial business unit. This candidate will ideally have experience in Power Generation.

The Project Executive is responsible for the overall success of assigned projects by overseeing the construction operations while providing leadership and management direction. This role develops project team members, identifies continuous improvement opportunities, and assists with the creation of a business unit strategic growth plan and budget. The Project Executive typically reports to the Director of Operations.

What You'll Do:
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans for large-scale construction projects.
  • Manage project teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors.

  • Monitor and control construction through administrative direction of on-site field management staff to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Manage and support proposal creation and the development of client presentations
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts to protect the company's interest and maintain good relationships with Clients.
  • Provide leadership and direction to preconstruction teams in analyzing value to the customer, opportunities, and risk.
  • Coordinate project commissioning and handover activities.
  • Manage project closeout activities.
  • Maintain a strong network of industry-related contacts for the purpose of expanding business opportunities
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
  • Business travel will be required
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of construction industry experience is required
    • Experience as the Senior Manager, Project Executive, or Director on $50M-$200M projects is required
    • Proven history of leading others successfully and teaching, developing, and mentoring others
    • Industrial construction project experience is required
  • Skills:
    • Excellent leadership skills with a desire to mentor, coach, and develop a team
    • Ability to resolve conflicts, network with clients, and have a high degree of self-motivation
    • Excellent verbal and written communication
    • Ability to balance and prioritize projects with impending deadlines
    • Detail-oriented and highly organized
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Business acumen and relationship-building skills
  • Technology:
    • Candidate should have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Apple products (iPhone & iPad) and have the ability to learn specific software.
    • Solid systems experience with Procore, JDE, and Asta is preferred.
    • Training will be provided on company standards.
