Our client, a well-established building controls and energy management company, is looking to add a Project Estimator to their team in Jacksonville, FL. This position involves assessing project documentation and creating comprehensive cost estimates for building automation system installations and retrofits. The majority of your time will be spent on HVAC controls projects (DDC, VAV, etc.) partnering closely with the sales, engineering, and operations teams to provide precise, competitive, and prompt proposals. With little turnover and an extremely stable clientele, this role offers strong job security and excellent benefits. Whether you have been working for a commercial HVAC company or have more extensive experience within automation controls, this would be a great fit for someone with a strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems who brings a collaborative approach to project management. Our client appreciates their hard-working team and has created a culture that has kept their team together for many years. After all, you’re replacing their Sr. Estimator who is retiring after being with them for over 20 years. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who values both a close-knit culture and variety in their scope of work.

• Review electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings and specifications.

• Provide accurate and timely estimations on HVAC automation projects.

• Create takeoffs and BOMs for controls, sensors, network components, and labor.

• Analyze RFQs and bid documents to understand project requirements.

• Partner with sales and design teams to confirm alignment and technical capabilities.

• Correspond with vendors and suppliers to discuss pricing on controls and materials.

• Prepare cost breakdowns, proposal documents, and supporting schedules.

• Support value engineering and provide ideas on cost reductions.

• Update estimating tools, cost databases, and proposal templates.

• Assist with post-award handoffs to project managers and field crews.

• Commercial HVAC and/or building controls estimating experience required.

• Experience writing proposals and scope of work required.

• Well-versed using estimating software required.

• Able to work onsite daily required.
