Job summary

JRM Construction seeks a Project Estimator to drive accurate cost estimates and bid packages for complex projects in California. You will prepare estimates across design stages, perform quantity take-offs, and coordinate with subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.

Responsibilities include leading the bid process, reviewing designs for pricing accuracy, and maintaining client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree and/or at least three years of relevant experience in Estimating, Purchasing, or Quantity Surveying.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure of deadlines and meet them.
• Ability to read and interpret commercial construction plans and specifications.
• Ability to autonomously manage estimates from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and manage the entire bid process (CM and GC) with detailed bid packages and ensure proper submissions by subcontractors.
• Prepare estimates for all design stages: Conceptual, Schematic, DD, and CD.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and estimate costs for materials, labor, and equipment.
• Solicit proposals from subcontractors based on drawings and bid packages.
• Prepare subcontractor bid forms and scopes of work for all trades.
• Review design documents to ensure accurate pricing and assess value engineering opportunities.
• Assist in creating logistics plans and translate them into project costs.
• Compile award packages for the purchasing team after estimate approval.
• Consult with architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
• Maintain client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
