Position Summary

eX2 Technology is seeking a Project Estimator with experience in telecommunications, utility construction or related industries to join our team. As a Project Estimator, you will develop cost estimates and project schedules in response to requests for proposals, quotes or bids. You will communicate with personnel, contractual professionals and vendors to develop pricing and schedules for upcoming projects.

We seek someone willing to work closely with the sales staff, business development staff, engineering, proposal development, field operations and other individuals within the company. Responsibilities

1. Work with all company departments to develop cost estimates for customer quotes, bids and proposals.
2. Develop project cost estimates, technical writing and lead working cost reviews for telecommunications, critical infrastructure and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) proposal responses.
3. Review RFP and similar bid and project specifications.
4. Define quantity take-offs from available information.
5. Compile a Bill of Materials (BOM).
6. Develop preliminary project schedules.
7. Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings. Travel as required. Travel is estimated at 5%.
8. Identify potential subcontractors and facilitate the execution of various professional agreements, such as non-disclosure, teaming and partnering agreements, subcontracts and bid bonds.
9. Prepare requests for quote documents for potential subcontractors and maintain relationships with subcontractors nationwide.
10. Prepare and review project cost estimates using a provided template.
11. Deliver technical writing relating to the solutions developed.

Job Requirements

Education

A bachelor’s degree and experience in the telecommunications, construction management or fiber-optic network industry is preferred, but not required.

Experience

3+ years construction or project estimating experience preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Knowledge of telecommunications outside (aerial & underground) and inside plant infrastructure design is highly desired. Other utility, ITS or engineering project experience will be considered.

Must have demonstrated excellent people skills, and willingness to work as a team.

Must have demonstrated excellent communications skills (written and verbal).

Must have demonstrated excellent organizational skills and be detail-oriented.

Thorough knowledge of Microsoft office products, specifically Excel, Word and Project.

Physical Requirements

The incumbent is occasionally required to walk or stand for long periods of time. The incumbent may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Other Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent will work in a semi-quiet office environment and on customer sites, where there is moderate to occasional great noise levels.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering and construction drawings and specifications, common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and other documents. Communicates effectively in oral and written English technical language, both in interpreting requirements and providing reports and mentoring.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
