Job description

Diablo Valley Cabinetry is seeking a Multi-Family Project Estimator to own the estimating process for assigned multi-family construction projects from start to finish. This role serves as the single point of accountability for scope review, take-offs, pricing, margin validation, proposal quality, bidding documentation, and on-time submission.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment where accuracy, communication, and follow-through matter. This person will collaborate with vendors, internal team members, clients, and trade partners while maintaining ownership of clear assumptions, documented deviations, and complete bid packages.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the full estimating process for assigned multi-family projects in accordance with company standards and estimating templates
  • Review architectural plans, construction documents, specifications, and addenda to determine project scope, feasibility, and bid requirements
  • Complete accurate take-offs from both digital and physical blueprints
  • Prepare complete, accurate, and timely bid packages, including scopes of work, unit matrices, unit counts, RFIs, inclusions, exclusions, and proposal documentation
  • Validate bid pricing against cost and target gross profit before submission
  • Maintain and update the Bidding Board, Bid Project Master File, project folders, estimating logs, and shared-drive file structures
  • Create bid folders and ensure required documents, addenda, and files are properly organized and labeled
  • Communicate proactively with vendors, clients, internal team members, and project stakeholders regarding project status, priorities, deadlines, and next steps
  • Participate in weekly bidding review meetings, team meetings, vendor pipeline discussions, and strategy conversations
  • Identify value-engineering opportunities, separable options, and competitive spec-compliant estimating strategies
  • Support continuous process improvement, role-relevant training, and constructive team collaboration
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum of 3 years of estimating experience in general contracting, vendor-side construction, cabinetry, millwork, or a related construction environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
  • Proven ability to produce accurate, timely, and profitable estimates in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong cabinetry knowledge, including face-frame and frameless construction, product features, quality standards, and installation practices
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, specifications, construction documents, and design intent
  • Strong visualization skills, including the ability to interpret 2D drawings and understand 3D construction outcomes
  • Solid understanding of construction specifications, building codes, trade coordination, and industry standards
  • Strong math skills, including algebra, geometry, measurements, and unit conversion
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and estimating-related platforms or tools
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with internal teams, clients, vendors, and trade partners
  • Highly organized, self-directed, flexible, and comfortable managing multiple priorities at once
