Job summary

T and D Communications is seeking an experienced Project Estimator for our Corona, CA region. The role reports to the Branch Manager and focuses on producing cost estimates for sales and operations teams across low voltage, AV, network, and security systems.

Requirements include an Associate degree or equivalent with 5+ years of field experience, strong math skills, and proficiency in AutoCAD/Visio. Union shop experience is preferred, with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Associates degree, trade school degree, or equivalent corporate or military training.
• A minimum of 5 years of technical experience including hands-on field experience.
• Ability to estimate complex projects including materials take-offs, labor estimates, and vendor costing.
• Experience estimating or managing multi-million dollar projects (> $2M).
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Review Bid Documents and drawings; understand specifications.
• Meet with clients and perform on-site job walks.
• Perform take-offs to develop Bill of Materials and project scope.
• Develop RFI responses to support estimates.
• Produce competitive project pricing and written scopes of work.
• Coordinate with Vendor Partners for pricing and delivery.
• Conduct scope reviews before hand-off to Sales Team.
• Create pre and as-built drawings in AutoCAD or Visio.
• Participate in ongoing training on new technologies.

T and D Communications is a privately held information and communication technology services corporation in business since 1982 with operations in California and Texas. Our core business is the turn-key planning, design, installation and maintenance of voice, data and video technologies for commercial buildings and campuses. Led by our staff of RCDDs, RF and wireless engineers, and network and systems engineers; our technology practices include Cellular and First Responder Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS/ERRCS), Network Infrastructure (LAN/WAN), Enterprise and Guest Wi-Fi (WLAN), Electronic Security Systems (ACS/CCTV), Audio-Visual, Overhead Paging & Intercom Systems, and construction of Low Voltage and Structured Cabling Systems including copper, fiber optic (including Air-Blown Fiber), and underground (outside plant) cable. Our California, Nevada, and public utility communications installers and technicians are represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Estimator to join our team of professionals in our southern California regional office located in Corona. Reporting to the Branch Manager your focus will be to produce cost estimates for our sales and operations teams.

Requirements

What we are looking for:

• Associates degree, trade school degree, or equivalent corporate or military training.
• A minimum of (5) years of technical experience including hands-on experience in the field.
• Ability to estimate complex projects including producing accurate materials take-offs and labor estimates, and costing from material suppliers, technical and trade partners.
• Experience estimating or managing projects of broad scope and scale valued at more than $2 million.
• Must have excellent communications skills including writing.
• Understanding of low voltage systems and technologies: Surveillance and Access Control, Audio Visual, Wi-Fi, DAS, structured cabling, OSP fiber/copper.
• Strong math and analytical skills, as well as the ability to perform with a high level of repeatable accuracy.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple project estimates concurrently while meeting deadlines.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office 365 Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, OneDrive/SharePoint
• Experience working in a Union shop.
• Preferred:
• BICSI RCDD
• AutoCAD, Visio, and Blue Beam experience a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Review and understand Bid Documents including specifications and drawing packages.
• Meet with Clients and perform on-site job walks.
• Perform "take-offs" to develop Bill of Materials and project scope.
• Develop and work through RFI's for the purpose of developing estimates.
• Produce competitive project pricing, written scopes of work, construction drawings, bill of materials, and value engineered alternatives.
• Solicit and work with our Vendor Partners.
• Conduct scope reviews in preparation for hand off to the Sales Team.
• Create pre and as-built drawings in AutoCAD or Visio.
• Participate in ongoing training as new technologies are developed.
