Job description

RK&K is seeking a Project Environmental Scientist II. This position specializes in the management of projects that improve our environment. We are looking for versatile, self-sufficient, motivated individuals to help support our construction management and inspection efforts on construction projects. Like-minded prospective employees should have an environmental or engineering background, technical acumen, and the soft skills necessary to effectively manage construction projects in sensitive locations.

Job location is expected in the Virginia Beach area; specific duties will vary.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field.


• Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction inspection and/or management.


• Knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding environmental compliance. Ability to understand and interpret construction drawings and specifications.


• Ability to travel and work long hours (paid overtime) outside in a construction environment.


• Ability to work independently with limited daily oversight, and to communicate effectively across different platforms with project management, clients, stakeholders, and contractors.


• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Preferably construction inspection and management experience in stormwater management, environmental restoration, and utility construction.


• OSHA 10-hour trained.


• Technically proficient in Microsoft Office suite software, portable device use, and construction photography.


• DNREC Certified Construction Reviewer
