Job summary

Langan is seeking a Project Scientist to join its collaborative Boston team. This role will assist with natural resource planning, assessment and permitting of land development and infrastructure projects, and lead specific assignments alongside our multi-disciplinary professionals in site/civil, geotechnical, survey and landscape architecture.

You will work on landmark projects across regulatory programs, gain hands-on experience, and have opportunities for growth, training and travel to client

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology or Planning.
  • 6-10 years of experience in natural resource assessment and permitting.
  • Familiarity with current local, state, and federal land use permitting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment.
  • Occasional travel to project sites and/or client locations, as required; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare natural resource planning, assessment and permitting documents for land development and infrastructure projects in collaboration with Project Personnel.
  • Use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photos to assess natural resource characteristics for due diligence.
  • Perform natural resource feasibility assessments for development projects.
  • Write and/or review draft due diligence reports, assessment and permit applications.
  • Prepare site assessments and related natural resource figures using GIS and AutoCAD.
  • Coordinate and perform field inspection services as needed; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Project Scientist to join its collaborative team in Boston, MA. This individual will serve a key function in assisting with the natural resource planning, assessment and permitting of land development and infrastructure projects, and leading specific assignments and tasks. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team of top‑notch professionals in a variety of geographic areas and regulatory programs, and to collaborate and learn from our multi‑disciplinary team of site/civil, geotechnical, survey, and landscape architect professionals on landmark land development projects.

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare the natural resource planning, assessment and permitting documents for land development and infrastructure projects in close collaboration with Project Personnel;
  • Effectively use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess the natural resource characteristics of project sites for natural resource assessment and permitting due diligence to plan and design projects;
  • Perform natural resource feasibility assessments for development projects;
  • Write and/or review draft due diligence reports, assessment and permit applications;
  • Prepare site assessments and related natural resource figures using GIS and AutoCAD software;
  • Coordinate and perform field inspection services, as needed; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.

  • Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
