This is a full‑time position located in our Parsippany, NJ or Princeton, NJ office.

In this role, you will serve as a key team member in both office and field assignments, leading portions of technical project work from project scoping through final deliverables under the direction of senior staff. You will perform site and subsurface characterization for environmental projects—planning and conducting fieldwork, overseeing subsurface explorations, collecting soil/groundwater samples, and monitoring contractor activities. Additional responsibilities include compiling and analyzing field and instrumentation data, preparing technical deliverables (including ASTM, NJDEP, and/or CERCLA), and providing guidance to junior staff. The successful candidate will communicate regularly with clients, agencies, and internal multidisciplinary teams, and ensure project activities conform with company and client health and safety protocols.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Lead portions of technical project work from project scoping through final deliverables under the direction of senior staff.
  • Apply academic and industry knowledge, as well as learnings from prior work experience, to execute project work.
  • Perform site reconnaissance to observe site conditions and plan/assess subsurface explorations.
  • Oversee and monitor subsurface exploration activities (e.g., borings, geoprobes, test pits), collecting soil, bedrock, and groundwater data for design and decision‑making.
  • Conduct soil and groundwater sampling in accordance with regulatory standards, company procedures, and industry guidelines.
  • Support vapor intrusion sampling and evaluation activities, including coordinating field logistics, installing soil gas sampling ports, collecting soil gas or indoor air samples, documenting field conditions, reviewing analytical data, and assisting with technical summaries under senior staff guidance.
  • Compile, analyze, and summarize field, instrumentation, geological, and/or environmental data using spreadsheets and other digital tools.
  • Prepare detailed documentation of site activities and synthesize findings for environmental projects.
  • Support environmental due diligence projects, including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, desktop reviews, environmental database reviews, site reconnaissance, and historical research.
  • Prepare technical deliverables, including technical sections of reports, proposals, cost estimates, and technical deliverables (including ASTM, NJDEP, and/or CERCLA).
  • Provide training, guidance, and informal mentoring to junior staff on their projects and within your technical discipline.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate with clients, agency, and internal communications.
  • Prepare permit applications.
  • Perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors.
Skills / Experience

Minimum Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of related experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be proficient at writing technical reports to meet project requirements.
  • Able to work independently on assigned tasks, applying strong critical‑thinking skills to support technical project work while managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Desire to learn and grow in your profession, demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, resourcefulness, flexibility, and ownership.
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position: lift 50 lbs., traverse unstable/sloping sites and landscapes, work outside in a range of weather conditions, and have the stamina for moderate physical activity for the majority of field working hours.
  • Able to travel to work locations that may require overnight stays.
