Job summary

Haley & Aldrich is seeking an Assistant Project Manager, Environmental Engineer to provide technical support within a growing team. The role covers field assignments, reporting, and project management support across diverse projects for clients in the built and natural environments.

Ideal candidates will bring a Bachelor’s in Environmental Engineering (or related field), 6+ years of experience (NY compliance preferred), and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • 6+ years of related experience including compliance experience in New York State.
  • Professional registration or certification, as applicable.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 Suite and the ability to learn various software for project needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks pertinent to the work.

Responsibilities

  • Split time among technical tasks, field assignments, reporting, and project management support.
  • Apply knowledge of technical scopes of work to align with project objectives and deliver quality work.
  • Demonstrate technical competence with codes, regs, and professional standards.
  • Collaborate with project teams, field teams, and health and safety personnel to meet client goals, quality, budget, schedule, and safety.
  • Assist the PM team with cost estimating, scheduling, subcontracting, resource allocation, planning, and financial management.
  • Prepare or review written communications and technical deliverables.
  • Engage with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Coach and mentor junior staff for high-quality execution and knowledge transfer.
  • Plan field investigation programs including data collection for environmental projects.
  • Lead data reduction, feasibility studies, remedial design, cost estimating and permitting tasks.
  • Plan all work per health and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors.

We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager, Environmental Engineer to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position located in our New York, NY, White Plains, NY or Parsippany, NJ office.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Split time among completing technical tasks, such as field assignments, reporting, and analysis of task management and project management support activities.
  • Leverage understanding of technical scopes of work for assigned work and their alignment with overall project objectives to deliver quality assignments.
  • Demonstrate and apply technical competence, knowledge of codes and regulations, and professional standards of practice to assigned tasks.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams, field teams, and health and safety personnel to address client goals and objectives, ensuring technical accuracy, quality, budget, schedule, and safety requirements are met.
  • Assist the project management team throughout the project lifecycle, including cost estimating, scheduling, subcontracting, resource allocation, project planning, task delegation, and financial management.
  • Prepare and/or review written communications and technical deliverables.
  • Engage in internal and external communications with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Coach, mentor, and direct junior staff to ensure high-quality execution of project tasks, including field activities and preparation of technical reports and deliverables, while facilitating knowledge transfer for team development.
  • Plan and manage field investigation programs, including pre-design laboratory and field data and/or pilot testing data collection programs associated with environmental projects.
  • Lead and oversee project environmental data reduction, summarization, visualization tasks; feasibility studies, remedial design, cost estimating and permitting tasks, remedial construction, and remedial system O&M tasks.
  • Plan all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors.
Skills/Experience

Minimum Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • 6+ years of related experience including compliance experience in New York State.
  • Professional registration or certification, as applicable.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer literacy skills, including the use of the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint) and the ability to learn various software needed to support financial management, diverse project needs, and client requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks pertinent to the work.
Preferred Skills
  • Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Some project management or task management experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with soil, groundwater, and air treatment technologies.
  • Familiarity with groundwater fate and transport modeling and conceptual site model development.
  • Design and construction experience with environmental remediation projects.
  • Working knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Blue Beam and groundwater modeling software.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates.

The salary range for this position in New York City, NY and White Plains, NY is $90,000 - $110,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market.
