Job summary

Minnkota Power Cooperative is seeking a Project Engineering Supervisor for the Milton R. Young Station near Center, ND.

You will lead the engineering and project staff, oversee capital and O&M projects, and coordinate outages while ensuring safe, reliable plant operations. The role requires a BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university, EIT certification, and extensive experience in power plant project planning and operations.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering from ABET‑accredited university.
• EIT certification or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of progressively more responsible technical and administrative experience in project planning, and operation and maintenance of a steam electric generating plant.
• Minimum fifteen years of progressively more responsible power plant operations, maintenance, engineering support, or project management experience without a BS in Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and daily oversight of project and engineering services personnel in the engineering department.
• Oversee capital projects, O&M projects and outage planning for the station.
• Review plant systems to improve efficiency, reliability, availability and load factor.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to identify capital, O&M and outage projects and assign management responsibilities to staff.
• Manage station improvement projects and report on project activities.
• Identify technical and operational training needs and initiate actions on capital and O&M projects.
• Conduct comprehensive studies of plant to identify areas for improvement.

Project Engineering Supervisor Minnkota Power is seeking qualified candidates for a Project Engineering Supervisor responsible for providing leadership along with daily oversight, direction, and guidance of the project and engineering services personnel in the engineering department at the Milton R. Young Station located near Center, ND. The Milton R. Young Station is a two-unit coal-fired power plant, providing a stable energy source for our cooperative member-owners. The station is located 35 miles from Bismarck, North Dakota, a growing and progressive city with many recreational opportunities. Accountable for the engineering department capital projects, O&M projects and outage planning. Reviews plant systems to improve efficiency, reliability, availability and load factor. Provides technical expertise in problem areas. Coordinates with stakeholders to identify capital, O&M and outage projects. Assigns project management responsibilities to project staff. Manage Station improvement projects, delegating to project staff as required Prepares reports and presentations of project activities. Identifies technical and operational training needs and initiates appropriate action on capital and O&M projects. Performs comprehensive studies of plant, identifying areas needing improvement. Provides expertise and some administrative functions in work management software

Position requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university and EIT certification or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, and experience. Minimum of five years of progressively more responsible technical and administrative experience in project planning, and operation and maintenance of a steam electric generating plant with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering; minimum of fifteen years of progressively more responsible power plant operations, maintenance, engineering support, or project management experience without a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. Experience in managing and supervising power plant projects, tracking budgets, and working with a variety of people is essential.
