Job summary

NorthWestern Energy in Butte, MT is seeking a Project Engineering Supervisor to lead the project engineering team, plan daily work, allocate resources, and oversee operations and the operating area budget. The role requires strong leadership, risk and change management, and collaboration with managers and the director.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • E. License in Montana is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain P.E. License in South Dakota.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Gas Transmission & Storage or similar.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures especially in regard to Security.
  • Strong leadership skills including interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a department and department staff.
  • Get Into Energy - Energy Industry Fundamental 2.0 certification is a plus (click the link to certify at no cost).

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates leadership, consistent with NorthWestern Energy's code, values, policies, processes and controls.
  • Ensuring that project needs and objectives are met through effective coordination and development of activities, while leading employees to meet productivity, quality and goal accomplishment expectations.
  • Utilize effective management practices to maintain employee engagement and productivity.
  • Managing the design of gathering, storage and transmission pipelines measurement and regulation stations, compressor stations, gas treatment facilities and system initiatives.
  • Analyzing and developing solutions to engineering problems related to equipment and systems or the causes of component failures.
  • Developing and applying engineering standards and procedures and providing advice on issues within the engineering field.
  • Establishing and maintaining relevant controls and feedback systems to monitor the operation of the department.
  • Evaluating and improving the efficiency of business processes and procedures.
  • Effectively manages budget, ensuring proper cost controls.
  • Lead and drive effective change and project management techniques for special projects.
  • Implementing systems to fulfill the mission and goals of the department efficiently and effectively.
  • Making financially responsible, accountable, and justifiable business decisions in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
  • Communicating regularly with managers, the director and other designated contacts within the organization.
  • Tracking legislation and rule changes related to pipeline compliance and safety and ensure compliance within the Gas Transmission department.
  • Time will be spent in an office environment with exposure to field environment, and project oversight during design and construction. Anticipated travel up to 30% to jobsite, trainings, and seminars

Project Engineering Supervisor

Work Location: Butte, MT

Pay range: $105,100 to $157,700 per year

Employment Status: Regular Full-time

About this position

The supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day work tasks and performance of the project engineering team. They will plan and schedule work to ensure resources are assigned accordingly to accomplish daily objectives while also overseeing operations and the budget of the operating area.
