Job summary

MetaOption, LLC seeks a Senior Transmission Line Engineer / Engineering Manager to lead complex overhead transmission projects for utilities. Role emphasizes hands-on structural design, mentoring teams, and technical leadership across multi-location programs.

Experience with PLS-CADD, lattice towers, and 69kV+ systems is required or strongly preferred. PE license is a plus; candidates from consulting firms encouraged. Travel limited; positions available in multiple states.

Senior Transmission Line Engineer / Engineering Manager (Overhead Transmission)

A leading U.S. engineering firm is seeking a senior-level transmission line engineer to lead complex overhead transmission projects for utility customers and mentor engineering teams. This role is heavily focused on structural design and offers strong compensation and long-term growth.

Technical Focus

• 90% structural engineering (foundations, framing, materials)
• Experience with steel, wood, laminate, and composite structures
• Lattice tower experience is a plus
• EPC and/or utility services experience preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Lead engineering execution for large or multi-project transmission programs
• Prepare and review complex engineering deliverables and calculations
• Manage budgets, schedules, and quality across disciplines
• Lead and mentor engineering teams; provide PLS-CADD training
• Serve as technical lead and responsible charge on projects
• Interface with clients and support pursuit/business development efforts

Preferred Experience

• U.S. investor-owned utility transmission projects
• Strong understanding of PLS-CADD, line routing, structural loading, and foundation design
• Experience coordinating with procurement, permitting, land, and construction teams
• Proposal support and engineering cost estimating experience

Locations - Preferred: OR, CA, TX, KS, CO, MN, MI, NC, FL

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (other engineering degrees considered)
• PE license preferred
