What You'll Do You will oversee the technical execution of approved projects from concept through detailed engineering and implementation, ensuring clarity of requirements, accurate pricing, and successful supplier delivery. You will lead supplier selection, organize and facilitate engineering workshops, define site processes and systems, finalize budgets and schedules, and validate equipment performance while supporting project management through commissioning. This role requires travel approximately 60-70% of the time, including domestic and international locations.
Essential Functions
- Lead internal and external teams through detailed engineering phases to deliver design requirements and business case for automation projects.
- Drive supplier selection and manage vendor evaluation processes to ensure cost inputs are engineered and delivered by appropriate parties.
- Organize and facilitate Integrated Detail Engineering workshops, manage resource participation, and oversee completion of all engineering deliverables including final design, layouts, budgets, and schedules.
- Review and approve technical documentation and shop drawings, ensuring all engineering requirements are met for automation and construction trades.
- Manage project engineering workstream through commissioning, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution of integrated design activities.
- Track key milestones, manage risks, support contract reviews, and provide regular status updates to leadership and project teams.
- Facilitate training and transition activities for maintenance teams and support additional projects as needed.
- Other essential duties may be applicable and assigned as necessary.
What Experience and Education You Need
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Logistics, or a closely related field required.
- Minimum 12 years of engineering design, project management, or implementation experience in warehouse automation, operations, or logistics required, including at least 5 years in design and 5 years in implementation.
- Minimum 7 years of project management experience required; PMP or PMI certification or equivalent program/project management education preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to create and approve detailed mechanical designs using AutoCAD or other 2D and 3D design software required.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and VISIO required.
