Job summary

McKim & Creed is seeking an enthusiastic Project/Process Engineer Water/Wastewater to join a fast-growing civil engineering team in Wilmington, NC. This role focuses on design and plan production support for water/wastewater projects, with ownership of engineering duties from inception to completion.

In office four days a week, you will lead design, permitting, and construction administration efforts, ensuring compliance with codes and client requirements while coordinating with engineers,

Qualifications

  • 4 to 8 years’ experience in design and permitting of wastewater treatment plant projects.
  • NC PE or able to gain PE quickly through reciprocity.
  • B.S. Degree in civil/environmental/chemical engineering from a recognized, accredited program.
  • Strong design, value engineering, analytically strong problem-solving skills, and ability to deal with regulatory agencies.
  • Strong management, organization, and communication skills; proactive and motivated to deliver quality work.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and see them through from inception to completion.
  • Willing to be in the office four days a week with strong organization and communication skills.
  • Requires a valid driver's license, acceptable motor vehicle record, cleared background check and negative drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill engineering duties for design, permitting, and construction administration of water and wastewater facilities.
  • Prepare accurate presentations, process evaluations, designs, details, and construction documents.
  • Understand treatment process modeling and overall hydraulics.
  • Oversee design teams including engineers, designers, consultants, and clients.
  • Coordinate with firm disciplines and project managers.
  • Research and ensure implementation of codes, requirements, standards, and templates.
  • Prepare specifications, review shop drawings, and provide construction administration support.
  • Travel periodically for business development and project management tasks; prepare reports.
  • Compile documents and submittals to agencies; oversee quality control and report to management.

Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic Project/Process Engineer Water/Wastewater. This is a critical role in a very fast-growing business unit to provide design and plan production support of civil engineering (water/wastewater) design projects. This role will require you to be in the office a minimum of 4 days a week.

What You Need
  • 4 to 8 years’ experience in design and permitting of wastewater treatment plant projects.
  • NC PE or able to gain PE quickly through reciprocity
  • B.S. Degree in civil/environmental/chemical engineering from a recognized, accredited program.
  • Fundamentally sound, strong in design and value engineering, analytically strong problem-solving skills, experienced in dealing with regulatory agencies, and strong management, organization, and communication skills.
  • Enjoy working with people, be proactive, and be a motivator.
  • Driven to deliver quality product, a true understanding of schedule and budget, keeping managers informed, and following up to see a project to completion.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel and handle projects from inception to completion.

Your Day-to-day Will Include
  • Fulfill engineering duties for the design, permitting, and construction administration of water and wastewater treatment facility projects.
  • Preparation of accurate presentations, process evaluation, design, details, and construction documents.
  • Knowledge and/or understanding treatment process modeling and overall process hydraulics.
  • Oversight of project design teams, including engineers, designers, consultants, and clients.
  • Coordination and collaboration with firm disciplines, other project engineers or project managers.
  • Research, interpretation and ensuring implementation of relevant codes, treatment process requirements, client requirements, standards, and templates.
  • Preparation of specifications, review of shop drawings, and construction administration support.
  • Periodic travel to perform business development and project management tasks. Duty includes preparation or review of subsequent reports and exhibits.
  • Oversight and assistance with compiling documents/construction plans from all disciplines and submittal to agencies having jurisdiction.
  • Oversight of project quality control implementation.
  • Weekly coordination with and reporting to manager regarding project/program performance with respect to quality, status, schedule, and budget.
