Job summary

Fehr Graham Engineering & Environmental in East Peoria, IL is seeking a Project Engineer with a strong background in water and wastewater engineering to lead municipal water projects. The ideal candidate holds a PE or can obtain within 12 months, has 4+ years of experience, and is proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D; WaterCAD or SewerCAD is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Illinois or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Minimum of 4 years of professional engineering experience, with emphasis in water, wastewater, or stormwater projects.
• Proficiency with engineering software including AutoCAD Civil 3D; knowledge of WaterCAD, SewerCAD, or similar tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist in the planning, design, and execution of water and wastewater projects for municipal clients.
• Prepare plans, specifications, and reports for water treatment facilities, distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, lift stations, and stormwater systems.
• Perform hydraulic modeling, cost estimating, and permitting tasks related to water infrastructure.
• Work closely with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders to ensure project requirements and compliance.
• Provide technical guidance to junior staff and designers.
• Support project management functions, including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and client communication.
• Conduct field investigations, inspections, and construction oversight as needed.

What you’ll do

We are seeking a skilled and driven Project Engineer with a strong background in water and wastewater engineering. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who is passionate about water infrastructure, enjoys working with municipal clients, and thrives in a collaborative team environment.
