Job Description:

Project Engineer – Road & Highway Infrastructure - Irvine, California

Opportunity:

Our Parsons Irvine, California office is hiring a Project Engineer with demonstrated experience supporting road & highway projects in California for Caltrans. You will perform a wide variety of engineering tasks for highway, rail, and transit projects, including feasibility studies, preliminary engineering, final design, report writing, and development of construction contract documents. The candidate may lead tasks and take responsibility for delivering assignments. Extensive experience with Caltrans projects in California is essential. Willingness to travel to supplier, client, or project site locations is expected.

Core Responsibilities include:

• Perform roadway engineering tasks such as geometric design, analyses, and project plan development.
• Utilize Microstation and AutoCAD at a high level.
• Prepare engineering design plans, computations, technical reports, specifications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates.
• Assist the project manager in executing and delivering project assignments.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external clients/agencies.
• Lead and supervise lower-level engineers on assignments.
• Participate in project meetings, site visits, and field inspections as required.
• Hold a Registered Civil Engineer (PE) license in California with experience in delivering PA/ED and PS&E projects.
• Deep understanding of Caltrans design procedures, standards, and application.
• Mentor junior staff development.
• Experience in roadway geometrics, construction details, contour grading, signing and striping, retaining walls, utility coordination, and cost estimates.
• Proficient in MicroStation V8i, InRoads V8i, and 3D modeling.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in roadway engineering.
• California Professional Engineer (PE) registration is strongly desirable.
• Experience with Caltrans projects and standards.
• Proficient in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to apply advanced engineering techniques and solve complex problems.

Salary Range: $100,900.00 - $176,600.00
