Job summary

Pickett, an ESP Associates company, seeks a Project Engineer to provide mid-level engineering expertise on high-voltage transmission projects. You will support line routing, survey coordination, PLS-CADD modeling, structure and foundation design, and permitting, coordinating with subs and vendors.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering, 4+ years' transmission line experience, PLS-CADD proficiency, and strong communication/writing skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Engineering (required).
• PE certification (preferred).
• 4+ years of related transmission line engineering experience (required).
• Experience using PLS-CADD for designing transmission lines (required).
• Experience with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ASCE, and ACI.
• Experience liaising substation, transmission, environmental, real estate, construction, and maintenance stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability in applying engineering theories and principles.
• Ability to research engineering/design issues, evaluate alternatives, prepare, and present.
• Ability to work safely and follow safety regulations.
• Self-starter who thrives in unstructured, varied, deadline-driven environments.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills (verbal/written).
• Demonstrated verbal and technical writing skills.
• Must be able to pass drug screen, background check, and have satisfactory driving record.

About The Role:

As a Project Engineer, you will provide mid-level engineering/technical expertise on complex electric transmission design projects for high-voltage (HV) overhead utility systems.

Specifically, the position prepares, reviews and/or provides guidance for line routing, survey coordination, PLS-CADD modeling, structure design, foundation design, clearance checks, plan/profile development, material specification and procurement, constructability evaluations, work order package preparation, permitting, vendor/subcontractor coordination and construction support.

What You Bring:

• Bachelor's in Engineering (required)
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification (preferred)
• 4+ years of related transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility industry (required)
• Experience in using PLS-CADD for designing transmission lines (required)
• Experience with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ASCE, and ACI
• Experience with liaising substation, transmission, environmental, real estate, construction, and maintenance stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability in the application of engineering theories and principles
• Increasingly proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing, and presenting
• Ability to work in a safe manner and always obey safety regulations
• Ability to be a self-starter and thrive in an unstructured, varied and deadline- driven work environment
• Strong ability to collaborate with team members and peers in the electrical utility industry
• Effective communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
• Demonstrated verbal and technical writing skills
• Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy
