Job summary

Pickett, an ESP Associates company, is seeking a Lead Engineer in Dallas, TX, to provide senior engineering leadership on HV/EHV overhead transmission projects. The role calls for hands-on design oversight, mentoring staff, and ensuring client requirements, quality, and schedules are met.

You will guide line routing, surveying, PLS-CADD modeling, and construction support while coordinating with stakeholders to deliver safe, reliable utility solutions.

Qualifications

  • PE certification required.
  • 10+ years of transmission line engineering experience in electric utilities.
  • Extensive experience with PLS-CADD.
  • PLS-TOWER experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of NESC, IEEE, ASCE and ACI codes.
  • Strong project management and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to lead and mentor teams.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of engineers, technicians, and drafters.
  • Communicate clear expectations, goals, and vision.
  • Manage project work and delegate tasks.
  • Mentor and coach team members.
  • Ensure on-time delivery and quality of work.
  • Review and approve engineering design submittals.
  • Develop lasting client relationships.
  • Estimate projects and develop proposals.

AbouttheRole:

As a Lead Engineer, you will provide leadership and senior-level engineering/technicalexpertiseoncomplexelectrictransmissiondesignprojectsforhigh-voltage(HV)andextrahigh-voltage(EHV)overheadutilitysystems.

Some of the main responsibilities will be to ensure the team is meeting client requirements,both quality and schedule deadlines as well as ensuring the team is engaged and their inputis valued. We want to inspire our team members to produce at the level of excellence forwhichPickett isknown.

This role will require you to be hands-on and manage, prepare, review, and/or provideguidance for line routing, survey coordination, PLS-CADD modeling, structure design,foundation design, clearance checks, plan/profile development, material specification andprocurement, constructability evaluations, work order package preparation, permitting,vendor/subcontractorcoordination, and construction support.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification(required)
  • 10+ years of related transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility industry(required)
  • Extensive experience using PLS-CADD(required)
  • Experience with PLS-TOWER(preferred)
  • Extensiveexperiencewithdesigncodesandstandardssuchas:NESC,IEEE,ASCE, andACI
  • Extensive experience liaising with substation, environmental, realestate,construction,andmaintenance stakeholders
  • Deep understanding of industry standards and methods (engineering,procurement,andconstruction)
  • Strongproject management skills andexperience
  • Abilitytoworkinasafemannerandalwaysobeysafetyregulations
  • Adept self-starter who thrives in an unstructured, varied, and deadline-drivenworkenvironment
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to coach other team members and providedirectionforprojects
  • Strong ability to collaborate with team members as well as peers in theelectricalutilityindustry
  • Effective business and technical communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy
