Job summary

The Project Engineer at MBA Energy & Industrial supports the Structures Division in coordinating, planning, and executing industrial building projects. This role provides hands-on experience across preconstruction, procurement, scheduling, field coordination, and closeout, serving as a bridge between project management and field operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project managers and superintendents in planning, scheduling, and executing industrial building projects.
  • Procure materials, equipment, and services; manage RFQs and purchase orders.
  • Review, process, and track submittals, schedules, RFIs, and other project documentation.
  • Negotiate subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure quality, scope, and value alignment.
  • Conduct job site visits to monitor construction progress, safety compliance, and adherence to design intent.
  • Review drawings and coordinate with design teams to resolve conflicts and clarify project details.
  • Document meeting notes, distribute minutes, and maintain organized communication logs.
  • Assist with contract administration, change order documentation, and cost tracking.
  • Support field operations and logistics, ensuring smooth coordination across teams.
  • Promote company safety standards, quality expectations, and project goals across all activities.

Job description

The Project Engineer supports MBA Energy & Industrial's Structures Division in the coordination, planning, and execution of industrial building construction projects. This role provides hands-on experience across all project phases — from preconstruction and procurement to scheduling, field coordination, and closeout. The position serves as a critical bridge between project management and field operations, with a clear path toward future leadership opportunities within the organization.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


  • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in planning, scheduling, and executing industrial building projects.

  • Procure materials, equipment, and subcontractor services; manage RFQs and purchase orders.

  • Review, process, and track submittals, schedules, RFIs, and other project documentation.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications


  • 1-3 years of relevant construction experience (industrial, commercial, or design-build).

  • Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management tools.

  • Knowledge of PEMB (Pre-Engineered Metal Building) systems and industrial building methods.

  • Experience supporting project scheduling and cost control activities.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work is primarily performed in an office setting with regular travel to job sites (approximately 20% travel). Field visits involve exposure to active construction environments including outdoor conditions and uneven terrain. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility as required by project demands.

MBA Energy & Industrial offers competitive compensation starting at $70,000 annually with performance-based bonuses.
