Job summary

MBA Energy & Industrial is seeking a Field Engineer to oversee planning, coordination, and execution of industrial and commercial building projects nationwide. You will ensure on-time, on-budget delivery aligned with contracts, specs, and safety standards, working with clients, PMs, supers, subcontractors, and leadership from start to finish.

The role requires ability to travel extensively, strong communication, and experience with PEMB/industrial builds.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing construction projects, preferably industrial or commercial.
• Experience with PEMB and multi-story structural projects.
• Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage all project phases: design, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and closeout.
• Lead and coordinate meetings with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and staff.
• Oversee field operations with Project Managers and Superintendents to meet goals.
• Review design/construction docs for accuracy and constructability.
• Develop RFIs, RFPs, bid packages; evaluate proposals and award contracts.
• Monitor progress and financial performance; report costs to management.
• Conduct site visits and issue progress reports to clients and leadership.
• Coordinate submittal, change orders, and shop drawings; ensure timely resolution.
• Oversee project closeout: punch lists, warranties, O&M manuals, documentation.
• Maintain safety, quality, and schedule compliance across activities.

Job description

The Field Engineer oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of industrial and commercial building construction projects Nationwide. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in full alignment with contract requirements, design specifications, and safety standards. The Field Engineer works closely with clients, project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and company leadership to deliver high-quality, well-managed projects from start to finish.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of assigned projects, including design, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and closeout.
• Lead and coordinate meetings with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and internal staff.
• Oversee and support Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure field operations align with project goals.
• Review design and construction documents for accuracy, conformance, and constructability.
• Develop and issue RFIs, RFPs, and bid packages; evaluate proposals, negotiate terms, and award contracts.
• Monitor project progress and financial performance; track and report associated costs to upper management.
• Conduct regular site visits and issue progress reports to clients and leadership.
• Manage submittal, change order, and shop drawing processes; ensure accurate documentation and timely resolution.
• Coordinate project closeout activities, including punch lists, warranties, O&M manuals, and final documentation.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety, quality, and schedule requirements across all project activities.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience managing construction projects, preferably in industrial or commercial building environments.
• Demonstrated experience with pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB) and multi-story structural projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field (preferred, but not required).
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Microsoft Project.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface with clients, subcontractors, and executive leadership.
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Ability to travel extensively and remain onsite for extended durations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing design-build or ground-up industrial construction projects.
• Knowledge of contract administration, cost tracking, scheduling, and project forecasting.
• Proficiency with Procore or other construction management software tools.
• Experience in renewable energy, data centers, or O&M facility construction.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position is project-based and requires frequent travel to remote job sites across the continental United States. Work is performed primarily outdoors and involves exposure to typical construction site conditions. Lodging and per diem are provided per company policy.
