Job summary

Holmes US is seeking a Structural Project Engineer in Portland with 3–6 years of experience to design innovative, sustainable structures focused on mass timber and seismic resilience in the Pacific Northwest.

You’ll work on projects spanning mass timber, concrete, steel, masonry, and wood while collaborating with teams across the US and New Zealand network, contributing to a greener, resilient built environment.

Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of structural engineering experience.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • PE license for professional practice.
  • Seismic design experience is a plus (Cascadia).
  • Strong technical and communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in ETABS, SAP and RISA is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Design innovative building structures across multiple materials with emphasis on mass timber and CLT.
  • Apply expertise in concrete, steel, masonry, and wood on mid-rise residential to civic and commercial projects.
  • Collaborate with project teams across the US and New Zealand network.
  • Contribute to sustainable, resilient design solutions in the Pacific Northwest.

  • Design innovative building structures across multiple materials, with strong exposure to mass timber and CLT in the region that’s defining how the world builds with wood
  • Apply your expertise in concrete, steel, masonry, and wood on projects ranging from mid-rise residential to civic and commercial

You’ll Be A Great Fit If You Have
  • 3-6 years of structural engineering experience
  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • PE license
  • Seismic design experience (Cascadia Subduction Zone context is a plus)
  • Strong technical and communication skills
  • Proficiency in ETABS, SAP, RISA
