Job summary

DeSimone Consulting Engineering is seeking a Project Engineer in San Francisco to support the structural design from concept through construction. You will work with a multidisciplinary team on high-rise and large-scale projects, applying advanced design tools and knowledge of codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Structural or Civil Engineering; five years of mid/high-rise design experience.
• Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering; three years of design/analysis experience.
• Experience with ETABS, RAM, RISA, SAFE.
• Extensive knowledge of local and national building codes.
• Experience using Revit.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural design and analysis using Revit, Rhino, ETABS, and SAP.
• Assist in preparing drawings, calculations, and documentation for design deliverables.
• Coordinate with architects, clients, and other design team members to ensure design alignment.
• Conduct field observations and inspections under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Maintain accurate records of design decisions, calculations, and project documentation.
• Contribute to project planning and scheduling discussions with Project Managers.
• Apply knowledge of structural codes, standards, and materials to design solutions.
• Support quality assurance efforts by reviewing drawings and checking design accuracy.

About the Role:

As a Project Engineer at DeSimone Consulting Engineering, you’ll play a key role in the structural design process—supporting projects from concept through construction. What You’ll Do:

• Perform structural design and analysis using tools such as Revit, Rhino, ETABS, and SAP.

What We’re Looking For:

• BS or MS in Structural/Civil Engineering.
• 3-5 years of experience in structural design or analysis preferred.
• Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, and structural analysis software such as ETABS and SAP.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Eagerness to learn, collaborate, and grow within a dynamic engineering team.

Minimum (Required) Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field; and five (5) years of experience in design and analysis of mid to high rise buildings utilizing software packages such as ETABS, RAM, RISA, and SAFE; or
• Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field; and three (3) years of experience in design and analysis of mid to high rise buildings utilizing software packages such as ETABS, RAM, RISA, and SAFE.
• Three years of relevant experience in analyzing building structures using computer modeling methods and preparing structural calculations.

Minimum (Required) Skills:

• Extensive knowledge of local and national building codes and design practices.
• Knowledge of standard construction practices and the ability to work with contractors to address construction issues.
• Experience working in Revit.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail oriented with strong interpersonal, problem solving and team skills.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

• Master’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field.
• EIT (Engineer in Training) certification or PE (Professional Engineer) license.
• Experience working in Grasshopper, a plus.

At DeSimone Consulting Engineering, we’re committed to transparency—especially when it comes to compensation. This is a salaried, exempt position with an anticipated base salary range of $84,000-$96,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Most candidates are typically hired near the midpoint of the range, ensuring a balanced and equitable approach across our team.

In cases where a candidate brings significantly more experience or specialized expertise than required, we may consider an offer toward the higher end of the range.
