Job summary

Stantec in the Mid-Atlantic region seeks a mid-level Project Engineer, Roadway to join our team. This role is based in Charleston or Bridgeport, West Virginia, and offers the opportunity to work on diverse transportation design projects.

You will develop and analyze designs, coordinate with project teams, ensure compliance with standards, and support project planning from inception to completion. A BS in Civil Engineering, 4+ years of transportation design, and WV PE eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of four years of transportation design experience.
• WV PE registration or ability to obtain within one year.

Job Overview

Stantec is seeking a mid‑level Project Engineer, Roadway to join our Mid‑Atlantic team. This position is advertised for the Charleston, WV or Bridgeport, WV offices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and analyze engineering designs and specifications to ensure compliance with standards, codes, and regulations.
• Collaborate with project teams and communicate technical concepts effectively to achieve client expectations and project goals.
• Assist in planning, implementing, and completing projects, ensuring effective application of scope requirements, management of time, quality reviews, and effective communications with team members.

Capabilities and Credentials

• Proficient use of MicroStation V8i, OpenRoads.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience and knowledge of AASHTO and WVDOH and/or VDOT design directives and specifications.
• Experience and knowledge of WVDOH and/or VDOT roadway and right‑of‑way deliverables.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or a related degree.
• Minimum of four (4) years of transportation design experience.
• West Virginia Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration or ability to obtain P.E. within one year required.

Pay Transparency

Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
