Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. in Phoenix is seeking a Project Engineer focused on protection to design, configure and validate automation and protection systems for power networks. You will lead customer engagements, contribute to proposals, and mentor junior staff.

This role requires a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, 5+ years in power protection, and travel about 25% domestically and internationally; strong written and spoken communication is essential.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with electric power systems and protection.
  • Knowledge of protection and control, integration and automation.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally at least 25%.
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, configuration, validation and testing of protection systems.
  • Train customers on design, installation, commissioning and operation.
  • Manage scope, schedule and budget to high quality and safety standards.
  • Assist in proposals for SEL equipment and services.
  • Mentor staff and maintain SEL values and manufacturing principles.
  • Collaborate in cross functional teams to ensure project success.
  • Stay current with protection technology and industry practices.

Possesses, understands and applies knowledge and experience of power system *protection* and related SEL products to complete complex assignments.2. Lead in training and assisting customers with the creation, design configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of automation and/or protection systems.3. Lead in assigning, completing and implementing work within agreed upon scope, schedule and budget to a high level of quality and safety.4. Assist in the identification, preparation and presentation of successful proposals for SEL equipment, services, and systems.5. Mentor and develop professional staff. May supervise as necessary.6. Model, teach, and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.7. Understand. Create. Simplify.8. Other duties as assigned.***Required Qualifications***B.S.
