Overview

The Project Engineer – Project Design will be part of a small design team passionate about Growth, Capacity and Cost Improvement Manufacturing Strategy, with a packaging equipment focus. The team is responsible for developing large-scale projects from ideation to execution. These projects are identified for their criticality to service, innovation, or business continuity.

Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for the creation, development, and implementation of pivotal initiatives.
  • Research and refine technical solutions to reduce labor reliance across multiple product categories.
  • Build preliminary budgetary estimates across multiple teams (packaging, process, infrastructure, utilities) to guide the business toward the best ROI for capital investments.
  • Work with the Supply Chain Development function to create cases that support the proposed engineering scope.
  • Develop project design, detailed scopes of work, cost estimates, timelines and bid documentation for capital projects identified as high potential for investment.
  • Apply and improve specifications and standards for packaging equipment, taking findings from each project and codifying them for future use.
  • Work with third‑party engineering firms to develop for‑bid and for‑construction drawings.
  • Act as a resident guide within the packaging equipment field of expertise, providing guidance to the broader team on the strategic fit within the Manufacturing Network.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities based on the business segment cost needs and the latest technical solutions.
  • Present to senior leadership about project viability during conceptualization, future pipeline ideas, and project updates during the scope development stage.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering or related field/experience.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Possess a deep understanding of Manufacturing KPIs.

Work Environment & Schedule

This role is a Normal office environment with moderate travel to customer locations, stores and manufacturing facilities. The position requires 30–50% domestic and international travel, with travel cycles dependent on project development stage. A driver’s license is required. The role includes periodic onsite work in factories.

  • Occasional accessing high or low objects.
  • Occasional scaling staircases.
  • Frequent standing during commissioning, FAT and startup.
