Position Title: Project Engineer

Location: Houston, TX

Position Description

The individual is responsible for project engineering on small projects or portions of larger Pipeline or Pipeline Facilities projects. A project engineer is defined as an individual who has responsibility for coordinating the various engineering, construction, purchasing, scheduling, and start-up aspects of a project(s) or an individual who has responsibility for the technical excellence of the engineering portion of a project(s) across all disciplines. Typically, the individual at this level has been promoted from a General Engineering Level position or transferred from another position of comparable level. A professional registration or license is preferred.

Essential Functions

1. Review and utilize Gulf procedures and work instructions as assigned to the Project Management group personnel.
2. Direct engineering and design for the assigned segment of the project.
3. Assign a scope of work to each discipline working on the project team and distribute design information as required.
4. Participate in weekly project team meetings and maintain the action item/deliverable register for review and updating on a weekly basis.
5. Resolve problems at the interface between the segment and adjoining segments or between disciplines on the project team.
6. Review deliverable products to ensure the intent of the basis of design is met.
7. Assist in engineering design when the engineering specialty is required.
8. Manage the activities of the project team to meet the committed schedule.
9. Document orders initiated by the Client and determine the impact of these change orders on the segment of the project.
10. Review progress of work scope and report on schedule and budget projections.

Qualifications

1. Normally requires a BS or MS degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience in pipeline or pipeline facilities engineering, with typical engineering experience ranging from 10 to 15 years.
2. Must be able to build out estimates in order to develop projects.
3. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
4. Knowledge of computer systems in an engineering environment.
5. Registration as a Professional Engineer preferred.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education

1. Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required; graduate engineering degree preferred.
2. Professional Engineer preferred.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

1. Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
2. Frequent sitting and operating a computer.

5. Physical demands requirements are at levels of those for sedentary work.
6. Ability to travel as required for meetings with clients, other parties, or site visits that may require overnight stay.
