Job summary

PepsiCo is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Project Leader to drive design and execution of packaging and processing equipment across our food and beverage facilities. You will lead cross-functional teams to meet budget, schedule, and performance targets.

The role requires deep knowledge of dust control, process controls, and GMP, with 5–7 years in mechanical design and project management. Travel up to 10% is expected in this role.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent.
  • 5 years of Project Management experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of mechanical engineering design experience.
  • Experience with design, maintainability, and operation of dust collection systems, pneumatic conveying, grain milling and bulk material handling.
  • Strong understanding of plant facilities such as roofing, air compressors, sprinkler systems, natural gas, and steam.
  • Experience with packaging and processing equipment including mixing, scaling, primary packaging, secondary packaging, case packing, conveying, palletizing, metal detection, check weighing.
  • Knowledge of CFD risk mediation and dust mitigation hazards.
  • Familiar with GMP, Quality, Food Safety, and Sanitation principles.
  • Understanding of Environmental, Health, and Safety considerations in design and execution.
  • Familiar with finance basics, cost accounting, SPC, and TPM.
  • Fundamental background with PLCs and process controls.
  • Travel 5-10%.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering activities to analyze, design, plan, coordinate and lead projects in packaging, processing, milling and material handling.
  • Prepare engineering specifications including layout, diagrams, controls, utilities, and drawings.
  • Design and implement mechanical systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lead design and development of mechanical systems for packaging and processing equipment.
  • Conduct feasibility analyses for proposed mechanical designs.
  • Evaluate existing systems and processes for improvements.
  • Develop FAT procedures for processing and packaging equipment.
