JOB OVERVIEW:
The Project Engineer Operations Coach (PEOC) position will ensure that Field Engineers are adhering to company standards and ensuring effective project delivery. The PEOC will conduct workshops, practical on-site training and coaching, and classroom sessions on the roles and responsibilities of the Field Engineers and site-based project controls. This position will demonstrate competency with industry standards for project engineering from pre-construction, construction execution, through to close out, with a focus on customer satisfaction, optimizing safety, design engineering and quality, productivity optimization and cost mitigation. The PEOC must have the ability to listen to and build respect with multiple projects’ Field Engineers, site management and construction teams, and interface well with Project Controls and other internal organizations. The successful candidate will have field-engineering experience, be naturally analytical, and have good presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Leadership: The PEOC will engage with the Field Engineers to create buy-in and gain the support of utilizing company standards, means and methods. They will support the Director in developing competent, professional and respectful leaders and managers. Providing training and support to the Project Engineers is the primary function of this role. - Engineering: The PEOC will ensure that Project Engineers are coordinating with internal individuals, managing engineering firms, and following processes and standards to ensure the company achieves reliable, high-quality, cost effective and safe designs. “Deliver a positive customer experience”
- Quality Product: This role will focus on ensuring that Project Engineers have a strong understanding of the customer’s contractual design requirements, as well as the company’s quality program and ensuring quality documents are being uploaded in the customer’s and PRE’s document management systems. "Build the work right the first time."
- Project Controls: The PEOC will help Project Engineers understand and execute on a variety of site-based Project Controls activities for cost and schedule management.
- Fiscal Responsibilities: The PEOC will assist Project Engineers with how to manage budgets, man-hours, efficiencies and production on the job. PEOC will coach and mentor Project Engineers to have the skills to mentor site supervision on estimate breakdown, budgeting, planning, monitoring and forecasting. "Execute on budget and maintain positive cash flow.”
- Scheduling Responsibilities: The PEOC will assist Project Engineersin how to train and mentor project supervision with understanding their scheduling activities. They will help train FEs on how to work with site supervision to ensure an on-time delivery of the plant and coach and mentor Site Managers to effectively deliver on these standards. "Complete all work on time."
- Operational Excellence/Lean Construction: The PEOC will encourage Project Engineersto help site supervision to facilitate the development and implementation of company processes and best practices for how a Solar PV and/or BESS facility must be built in accordance to design, specification, schedule and cost. At times, they may assist coaching and mentoring Site Managers, as well as Field Engineers, to establish these methods and processes ahead of construction starting. "Continually and incrementally improve.”
- Talent Development: The PEOC will coach Project Engineerson how to effectively coach, mentor, develop and manage their direct reports as our greatest asset: our people. They will ensure talent development through participation on the project site and providing feedback. "Engage and strengthen each other."
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5-10 years of experience in renewables, solar experience is a plus.
- Experience working as a PE and/or PCE in an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) firm is a plus.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
- Detail oriented.
- Accounting (math and record-keeping).
- Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks.
- Ability to give presentations to groups of 10 or more people.
- Involved with and understands two or more trade disciplines (civil, electrical, mechanical, and commissioning).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail), Adobe Acrobat/BlueBeam, P6 or other scheduling applications, Visio and engineering software applications.
- Effective communication (oral, written, presentation), motivation, and supervisory skills.

PAY EQUITY:
$160,000 - $190,000
