Job summary

Grunley Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to coordinate construction activities and administrative tasks in support of the Assistant Project Manager. You will ensure information flows between field, office, senior management and customers to keep components aligned with the schedule.

You will assist in documenting details, maintain subcontractor records, and support cost control, scheduling, and communications with owners and designers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Business.
  • At least 1 year of construction industry experience.
  • Familiarity with a computer based project management system.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project execution and document flow with APM and PM.
  • Maintain project files, submittals, shop drawings, and records.
  • Assist in requisition procedures, proposals, and change orders.
  • Develop, monitor, and update project schedules with the team.
  • Communicate schedule revisions and cost status to stakeholders.

The Project Engineer is responsible for coordination of construction and administrative duties in support of the Assistant Project Manager (APM). The Project Engineer supports the APM in management the flow of information between the field, office, senior management and the customer to assure that components and systems are incorporated in accordance with the schedule. The Project Engineer supports the APM providing details for documents with comprehensive information is timely.

Report to: Assistant Project Manager and administratively reports to a Project Manager.

Requirements

  • Required Education
    • Bachelors degree: Engineering, Construction Management or Business
  • Required Experience
    • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the construction industry.
  • Required Qualifications
    • Familiarity with at least one computer based management software system is essential.

    • Must be skilled at working in a team environment
Summary
Responsibilities/Duties
  • Project Execution
    • Submits detailed procedures for the review, coordination, approval, and distribution of submittals, shop drawings, samples, etc. to the Assistant Project Manager.
    • Maintains project files on subcontractors and suppliers, bid package records, plans, specifications, changes, clarifications, and as-built documents.
    • Assists in the requisition procedure (i.e., review, submittal, and payment).
    • Expedites subcontractor proposals.
    • Assist the Assistant Project Manager in evaluating the subcontractor requisitions relative to the actual work completed.
  • Schedule Management
    • Works with APM and Superintendent on developing, monitoring, and updating project schedule.
    • Supports the monitoring of the subcontractor schedule adherence.
  • Cost Control
    • Supports the APM in the review of all subcontractors’ schedules of value.
    • Supports the APM in preparing appropriate company estimates and proposals for changes.
    • Supports the APM in the appropriateness of and prepares subcontractor change orders for processing by APM.
    • Supports the APM in evaluating subcontractor requisitions relative to the actual work completed.
    • Works with APM, PM and Superintendent to prepare the general requisition.
    • Helps the APM track general requisition through payment.
  • Communications
    • Supports the APM in establishing and maintaining relationships with Owner’s representative, design professionals, subcontractors, and suppliers.
    • Assists the APM in managing and maintaining project specific information systems.
    • Assists the APM in the coordination of site activities with office activities.
    • Assists APM in communication of schedule revisions to all parties, as appropriate.
    • Assists APM in communication of cost control status and issues to Grunley management in a timely manner.

The salary range for this role will be $75,000.00-$90,000.00.
