Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Project Engineer with 3+ years of experience to join the Reno, NV office. The role is on-site and involves a variety of building systems projects across disciplines.

Responsibilities include analyzing deliverables, coordinating across Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing teams, and delivering tasks with minimal supervision. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of related experience.
• Proven design experience with HVAC systems and related controls.
• Proven design experience with plumbing systems including water, sewer, and gas.
• Experience mentoring and coordinating the work of EITs, designers, and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects.
• Able to manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability.
• Ability to work individually or in a multi-discipline team.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical software programs to analyze and produce deliverables for clients.
• Work on diverse project types including Advanced Technology, Industrial, Micro-electronics, Mission Critical, Hospitals, Central Utility Plants and more.
• Solve complex problems and assist project managers, collaborating across disciplines to meet client requirements.
• Develop familiarity with regulations and Kimley-Horn practices and standards.
• Perform mechanical engineering tasks such as floor plans, flow diagrams, schedules, details, and calculations (pump head, pipe sizing, equipment selection).
• Support collaboration across Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing/Process Piping, I&C, Telecom teams on large-scale building systems designs.
• Manage and deliver tasks with minimal supervision; build internal and external professional relationships.
• This role offers opportunities to work with engineers and designers on a variety of projects.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Project Engineer with 3+ years of experience to join the Reno, NV office! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze and produce deliverables for our clients.
• Project type will vary but may include Advanced Technology, Industrial, Micro-electronics, Mission Critical, Hospitals, Central Utility Plants and more
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ requirements for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Perform general mechanical engineering tasks supporting various project tasks as required, such as dry-mechanical, wet-mechanical, plumbing/process systems. Tasks could include developing floor plans, flow diagrams, schedules, details and calculations such as pump head calculations, pipe sizing and distribution, and selection of equipment, etc.
• Support our collaboration of multi-discipline Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing/process piping, Instrumentation & Controls, Telecom/Technology team specifically working on large scale Building Systems engineering designs.
• Manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance
