Job summary

Ausenco is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Minerals & Metals team in the Tucson or Denver office. You will support planning, coordination, and execution of capital and sustaining projects from concept through implementation, ensuring engineering deliverables meet standards, budgets, and timelines.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 5–8 years EPCM/mining experience, with proficiency in scheduling tools and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Mining Engineering.
• 5–8 years of experience in project engineering or EPCM environments.
• Ability to work closely with Clients, Contractors, Project Managers, Construction Managers and Engineering discipline leads to develop packages for execution.
• Familiarity with engineering tools, project controls, and scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, AutoCAD).
• Strong understanding of project lifecycles, technical documentation, and design coordination.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to travel when required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, design, and execution of mining and mineral processing projects across stages (feasibility, detailed design, execution).
• Coordinate and track engineering deliverables, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and quality standards.
• Interface with internal discipline leads, vendors, and contractors to support project execution.
• Monitor progress, identify risks or deviations, and implement corrective actions with the Project Manager.
• Prepare technical reports, scopes of work, equipment specifications, and construction support docs.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, constructability assessments, and other project assurance activities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications.
• Provide input to weekly and monthly reports.
• Promote safety culture and adhere to HSE standards across all project phases.
• Manage client relationships for potential and existing projects and interface with sub-consultants and vendors.
• Advance continuous improvements of Ausenco design standards and project management procedures.
