Job summary

Ausenco is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to lead electrical packages for mining and mineral processing projects from Tucson, AZ or Denver, CO. You will oversee HV/LV distribution, MCCs, substations, and control systems, while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with other disciplines and clients.

You will drive design quality, ensure compliance with codes, and provide technical oversight across concept through construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a lead or senior capacity on mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial projects.
• Professional Engineer license current in CO, AZ, NV, ID, or SC, with ability to obtain missing states via reciprocity.
• Able to travel and work in site environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the development of electrical engineering deliverables across all project phases (concept, FEED, detailed design, and execution).
• Provide technical direction for HV/LV power distribution, MCCs, substations, lighting, earthing, and communication systems.
• Coordinate electrical design with other disciplines, procurement, and construction teams.
• Review and approve electrical specifications, single-line diagrams, cable sizing, load calculations, equipment layouts, and procurement documents.
• Ensure outputs comply with IEC, IEEE, NEMA codes, safety regulations, and client specs.
• Mentor and oversee junior engineers and designers.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, FATs, and site inspections.
• Support project management with schedule/cost tracking and risk identification.
• Visit project sites to assess existing systems and inspect new installations.
