GETTING A FLYING START

To be set up for success in the role, you will have extensive experience from the offshore/marine/subsea industry. You have worked in companies that are project-driven and have activities related to installation of HV subsea cables. You have experience working domestically (and internationally ideally) with projects related to interconnectors, wind farms, or power from shore. You will be comfortable with ensuring quality and safety during the projects. You have experience as “Lead Engineer” and have experience in leading others through your natural initiative and drive.

HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

Your role as a project engineer with Nexans will be to concentrate on the US market and help Nexans develop its capacities in executing projects in the US north east coast. You will work in project teams with focus on marine HV cable installation operations. You will lead, plan, and drive marine installation activities in projects such as installation packages and supplier/subcontractors, procedures, plans, analyses, calculations, and other documentation. This position interfaces closely with our state of the art HV cable factory in Charleston, South Carolina to take delivery of our cables before installation as well as with our engineering hub and project management teams based in Oslo, Norway.

In addition, this position is involved with tender activities, developing technical solutions relevant in the department and makes a solid impact by participating in Quality and HSE activities.

YOUR STARTING POINT WHEN YOU JOIN

• Bachelor's of Science in relevant engineering discipline, Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience from offshore installation and/or subsea operations.
• Engineering experience in projects and fields related to offshore work, subsea cable installation and protection including development of procedures and equipment design.
• Technical and interpersonal leadership skills.
• Working knowledge of US/New York/Rhode Island local regulations, contractors, environment is an advantage.
• Excellent English language skills - both written and verbal.
• Like to work in project teams but also independently.
• Structured and accurate when writing technical documentation/procedures.
• Creative and has an analytical and solution-oriented approach to challenges.
• Like to seek more knowledge within own discipline area and other interface areas.
