Job summary

Astrion is seeking a Project Engineer, Lead to support NSWCDD in Dahlgren, VA. This role provides technical leadership for systems engineering, design, development, integration, and issue resolution across DoD cyber situational awareness and Navy weapon systems. The Project Engineer will deliver mission-ready engineering products.

The position requires a BS in engineering or 10 years of relevant experience, plus 6 years in DoD/Navy programs and the ability to obtain a secret clearance.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering or 10 years in relevant tech disciplines.
• 10 years of systems engineering, design, and development with weapon or fire control systems.
• 6 years of project engineering and technical leadership for a DoD or Navy program.
• Experience resolving complex SE issues involving DoD cyber situational awareness, surface and subsurface Navy weapons.
• Experience with at least one related discipline (Logistics, Test & Evaluation, software, DoD enterprise).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD/Navy secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead identification, analysis, and resolution of complex systems engineering issues.
• Support systems engineering, design, and development for weapons, combat, or fire control systems.

• Integrate engineering work with related disciplines, including logistics, T&E, software, DevSecOps, and system integration.
• Support integration of systems with multiple Navy platforms and DoD enterprise systems.
• Communicate technical approach, risks, and status to Government and contractor stakeholders.

SALARY RANGE: $143,500 - $215,500

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our team supporting NSWCDD in Dahlgren, VA. This role provides technical leadership for systems engineering, design, development, integration, and issue resolution involving DoD cyber situational awareness, Navy surface and subsurface weapon systems, and enterprise systems. The Project Engineer helps deliver mission-ready engineering products across complex Navy and DoD environments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline; or ten (10) years of demonstrated knowledge base and subject matter expertise relevant to the technical disciplines of the SOW.
• Ten (10) years of systems engineering, design, and development experience with weapon, combat, or fire control systems.
• Six (6) years of concurrent, direct experience providing project engineering and technical leadership for a DoD enterprise program or Navy program.
• Experience identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex systems engineering issues involving DoD cyber situational awareness, surface Navy weapon systems, and subsurface Navy weapon systems.
• Experience with at least one related discipline such as Integrated Logistics Support, Test and Evaluation, software engineering, full-stack software engineering, DevSecOps pipeline support, Navy platform integration, operational weapon system integration, or DoD enterprise system integration.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the DoD/Navy secret clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• Experience with Navy programs such as SLBM, Aegis, or Tomahawk.
• Experience integrating systems across multiple Navy surface and submarine platforms.
• Experience supporting operational weapon systems and DoD enterprise systems.
• Experience coordinating engineering decisions across software, cyber, logistics, test, and platform stakeholders.
