Position Summary
The Project Engineer supports the successful planning, coordination, and execution of landscape construction projects from contract award through project completion. This position works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and field personnel to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements, plans, specifications, and company standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with the day-to-day administration and coordination of landscape construction projects.
- Review project plans, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and bid documents to identify project requirements, discrepancies, and potential issues.
- Assist with project start-up, including preparation and organization of project files, schedules, submittals, permits, and required documentation.
- Coordinate and track material procurement, deliveries, equipment, subcontractors, and vendor requirements.
- Prepare, submit, and track material submittals, product data, samples, shop drawings, and other project documentation.
- Assist with preparation, tracking, and processing of RFIs, change orders, field directives, and requests for information.
- Review plans and specifications and coordinate with Project Managers and field teams regarding constructability, conflicts, and design changes.
- Assist with quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, pricing, and project budgeting as needed.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, meeting minutes, correspondence, schedules, purchase orders, invoices, and change order records.
- Assist with project scheduling and monitor progress against established milestones and contractual deadlines.
- Coordinate with landscape architects, general contractors, owners, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders to facilitate timely resolution of project issues.
- Support the Project Manager in reviewing subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
- Assist with tracking project costs, commitments, labor, materials, and equipment to help maintain project profitability.
- Conduct periodic site visits to verify project progress, material installations, and compliance with plans and specifications.
- Communicate field conditions, project updates, and potential issues to the Project Manager and appropriate team members.
- Assist with preparation of project closeout documents, warranties, operation and maintenance information, punch lists, as-builts, and final project documentation.
- Maintain organized and accurate electronic and physical project files.
- Ensure project documentation and processes comply with company policies, contractual requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Assist in identifying potential project risks and developing solutions to minimize delays, additional costs, and liability.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates regarding assigned responsibilities and outstanding items.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent construction experience may be considered.
- 1–3 years of experience in construction, landscape construction, project coordination, engineering, estimating, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of commercial landscape construction practices, including irrigation, planting, hardscape, grading, concrete, drainage, site utilities, and/or site development, preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, contracts, and schedules.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies or potential project issues.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, or similar platforms preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively with both office and field personnel.
- Ability to visit active construction sites and work in an outdoor construction environment as required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.

Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based but requires regular interaction with active construction projects and field personnel. Site visits may involve exposure to outdoor
