Job summary

Powers & Sons Construction in Gary, IN (also serving Chicago and Indianapolis offices) is offering a Summer 2027 Project Engineer Intern position. You will support the project management team in planning, coordination, and execution of active construction projects, gaining hands-on exposure to field operations and project controls.

This internship provides mentorship from experienced managers, exposure to large-scale projects, and a clear path toward a full-time role after graduation.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Procore or Bluebeam a plus.

• Assist project managers with scheduling, submittals, and RFI tracking
• Review and organize project drawings, specifications, and contracts
• Attend site visits and owner/subcontractor meetings
• Support cost tracking, change order logs, and pay application preparation

Role Overview

The Project Engineer Intern supports our project management team in the planning, coordination, and execution of active construction projects. This is a hands-on role with exposure to real field operations and project controls.
