About the job Project Engineer III - Distribution

Description
An exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer III with a well-established, multi-office consulting engineering firm known for industry leadership. This role requires independent judgment and discretion in managing specific tasks and responsibilities. The successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

We are seeking a Project Engineer with over 5 years of experience in overhead and underground distribution design.

Responsibilities
  • Design, stake, and coordinate overhead and underground distribution projects in compliance with NESC, RUS, and other relevant standards, specifications, and codes.
  • Conduct peer and final reviews of distribution designs completed by others to ensure adherence to all applicable standards, specifications, and codes.
  • Seal distribution line designs created by yourself and others.
  • Coordinate the design and construction of distribution line projects with customers and other involved utilities.
  • Assist customers in acquiring necessary easements, encroachments, and permits.
  • Provide design support by preparing draft reports, calculations, details, plans, and specifications.
  • Prepare scheduling, planning, designing, permitting, and construction documents.
  • Ensure that all work meets safety and quality standards, codes, and specifications, as well as set schedules and deadlines.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve issues as early as possible in the project.
  • Provide timely and accurate updates on progress, reviews, observations, solutions, and other project-related information in an understandable format.
  • Conduct field observations and prepare relevant field reports.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year program.
  • Over 5 years of relevant experience, with prior professional work in a related field preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to meet deliverables on time and within budget. Familiarity with Microsoft Project software is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing multiple priorities and schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Experience working with both technical and non-technical individuals in a client-consultant environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with AutoCAD experience (Civil 3D experience is a plus).
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.
  • Physically capable of navigating construction sites and working outdoors.
